Living in Wassenaar
The village is best known in the rest of the Netherlands for its many villas and large country houses, but there is much more fun to see and do in Wassenaar.
When you think of the Netherlands, you think of windmills. At the end of the center of Wassenaar you will find the old corn mill Windlust. Two flour mills previously stood on exactly the same spot, but the current mill is more than 350 years old and dates from the year 1668!
In addition, the market participants are ready for you every Tuesday at the Berkheiveld market in Wassenaar. Nice to taste the atmosphere here, but of course also to get some groceries.
Ice cream from Luciano
Luciano has been named for the best ice cream parlor in the Netherlands several times and is ranked 22nd of the best ice cream parlors in the world!
Luciano can be found in the middle of the old center within walking distance of i4Housing and the salon stands for traditional fresh ice cream. You will find classics, but also flavors that you will not find anywhere else. Think of flavors such as honey figs and raspberry crumble pie. Definitely worth a try!
Maybe you will meet Queen Máxima and the princesses, they also love a delicious ice cream from Luciano!
Cycling or walking through the Meijendel
Nature reserve The Meijendel, part of the Hollandse Duinen National Park, is a large continuous dune area that stretches between Scheveningen and Wassenaar.
Here you will find open dune landscapes, water features, forests and a long sandy beach. A cycle path runs right through the nature reserve, so if you feel like it, take a wonderful cycle ride from Wassenaar to Scheveningen. Prefer to walk? Certainly do! Maybe you will see wildlife along the way, such as deer, foxes or Scottish Highlanders. In the middle of Meijendel you will find Boerderij Meyendel, a nice place to rest and have a drink.
